Unable to save custom component

I'm using the Community Edition of CloverETL to create a custom component that I think I'll be able to sell.
I followed the custom component tutorial and have deployed the component into the CloverETL GUI.

However, I get the below error message when I try and save the graph.

"CloverETL is unable to save this graph as it contains features available only available in CloverETL Desktop or higher
Reason: Component type "WRITER" is not supported"

Does this mean I need the Desktop version to create and save a component?

  The community edition of CloverETL Designer (as of version <= 3.2) supports only limited set of stock components and it does not support custom components.
  In order to work with custom components full (paid) version of the designer is needed.
