We have a need to edit our analysts who runs a clover etl graph on a server project to edit an excel file. The excel file contains some data needed to execute the graph. Unfortunately, unlike in local project, the clover etl UI is not able to open excel files for server project. The path to the file looks like this in eclipse UI: rse://<server-name>-8083/test_project/data-in/SMM_Input.xlsx
On trying to open the file, get following error:
Cannot create the in-place editor.
Reason:
This is probably because there is no OLE editor registered against the type of file you were trying to open.

Hi,
Thank you for reporting this issue. There is already a ticket in our tracking system and the issue will be fixed in version 4.2.0. For the time being you can open the file in external editor by right-clicking on the file you want to open -> Open With -> Other ... -> External programs -> OpenDocument Spreadsheet (Excel) or any other software you use for editing spreadsheets. This approach should work for the files located in the server project.

This issue seems to be happening again in version 4.3.0.015. In my case and other users at our site the files open fine in a couple of projects but fails in others.
Our CloverETL Server version is 4.3.0.15/15
Is there a setting or something that we can do to get the files to open in all projects? -
Hi,
I suspect that the projects where you're not able to open the Excel files are of the old RSE type. I'd like to ask you to confirm this, please. You can find out whether the project is a RSE one by right-clicking on it in Designer and selecting Properties. If its location begins with "rse://..." then this is the reason why you cannot open them. Please check couple of your projects (with working and not working Excel view) and let me know whether only the RSE projects are causing this.
