What is a Business Tools license?
A Business Tools license is a standalone license that enables access to CloverDX Wrangler and Data Manager seats and grants access to the Data Catalog within your CloverDX Server environment.
CloverDX Wrangler is available starting with CloverDX 6.0. For full access to Data Manager features, we recommend upgrading to CloverDX 7.0 or later.
How do I get a Business Tools license?
If you previously had an existing license with Wrangler seats, it has been converted into a Business Tools license with the corresponding number of seats.
If you're on a subscription plan, you have already received a production Business Tools license with 1 seat, included for free to try out the business interface. You can find the license in our Customer Portal after logging in.
Note: There are two types of Business Tools licenses:
Production — to be applied to your production environment
Non-production — for use in your non-production or test environments
If you want additional seats, please reach out to your Account Manager.
You can see the allocated Business Tools seats in your plan overview:
As well in the plan detail:
And in the list of your licenses under License keys:
How do I download the license?
You can download the license as any other CloverDX license.
1. In your plan detail, click on the license number to display the license key and download or copy the key.
2. You can follow the same steps above in License keys, or select the desired license and then go to the Download option:
How do I enable Business Tools?
The Data Manager, Wrangler, and Data Catalog are an integral part of the Server environment, no additional installation is required. All you need to do is to load the Business Tools license into your Server environment. You can do this either through the Server Console to load it into your system database, or by placing the license file in your configured license.dir directory and restarting the Server.
See below for an illustration of how to load the license in the Server console and how to check if your Wrangler and Data Manager seats were increased.
Understanding seat usage for Data Manager and Wrangler
1 Data Manager seat is used for each user assigned to a user group that has the "Access to Data Manager UI" permission. CloverDX provides two pre-defined groups with this permission: Data Manager Administrators and Data Manager Users.
Note that administrators are not included in these groups by default, so if you're an admin and want to access Data Manager, you'll need to manually assign yourself to one of these groups.
1 Wrangler seat is used for each Wrangler workspace sandbox. A sandbox is automatically created the first time a user opens the Wrangler interface.
By default, administrators have permission to access the Wrangler UI through the "Access to the Wrangler UI" permission at the group level. You can view Wrangler workspaces under the Sandboxes section in the Server Console.
