Understanding license expiration and maintenance dates
A license's expiration date marks the end of its validity, causing CloverDX products to stop working.
- Subscription licenses are typically valid for a year or for a period defined in your contract.
- Old legacy licenses generally don't have an expiration date. However, in some cases, even legacy licenses might have an expiration date, and in such a case, CloverDX products will also stop working when they are past the expiration date.
The maintenance date indicates the period during which you receive technical support and access to new versions.
- Subscription licenses have maintenance and expiration dates aligned, which means that when their validity ends, you are no longer eligible for support and the licenses will stop working.
- For legacy perpetual licenses, when their maintenance expires:
- You will no longer be eligible for assistance from our Support team.
- You can continue using your current CloverDX version, but your license will not work in newer versions.
Why your licenses might be expiring
There are several reasons why your license in CloverDX Designer or Server might be expiring:
-
Awaiting payment:
- We issue licenses with limited expiration after the initial signing of a contract. Licenses will be extended upon receiving payment.
- Existing licenses may be awaiting renewal, which typically happens annually. Licenses will be extended upon receiving payment.
- Updated licenses need to be re-applied: License updates aren't automatic. After renewal or purchase, you need to download the updated license from the Customer Portal and re-apply it within your CloverDX product. See the section below for more information on how to check the latest license status.
Checking your current license status
You can view your current license status on the Licenses keys page in the Customer Portal. Subscription licenses display their expiration dates:
Legacy licenses display the date until when they are supported:
If you've renewed or made a payment, but the licenses haven't been updated, contact your account manager.
